Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan's Remarks on the Rocket Explosion outside the Gate of China's Embassy in Afghanistan
2004-07-28

Q: It is reported that a rocket exploded outside China's embassy in Afghanistan yesterday. Did the attack target China's embassy? What security measures has China taken? Will China issue a travel warning?

A: The competent authorities of Afghanistan are investigating the incident and trying to size up its background. Our embassy in Afghanistan stays in close contact with the Afghan side on the issue. Considering the current situation of security in Afghanistan, we have required our embassy in the country and other agencies and personnel to sharpen their vigilance and strengthen security precautions. Meanwhile, we have required the Afghan side to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese agencies and personnel in their country.
