The Chinese Government Provides Emergency Assistance to Indonesia's Earthquake-Hit Region

On May 27, 2006, a powerful earthquake shook the area around Yogyakarta, Indonesia, causing heavy casualties and an enormous loss of properties. The Chinese government immediately indicated that it would provide all possible assistance to the Indonesian government. On that very day, the Chinese government decided to provide an emergency aid fund of $2,000,000 in spot exchange to the Indonesian earthquake-stricken region. If the situation gets worse, the Chinese government will consider increasing human and material support.
