Qatari Crown Prince and Prime Minister Meet Respectively with Li Zhaoxing

On May 24, 2006, Qatari Crown Prince Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Prime Minister Abdullah Bin Khalifa AL-Thani met respectively with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.

Tamim and Abdullah indicated that bilateral relations have been developing rapidly with effective cooperation in the economic and trade area and both sides share similar views on many international issues. Qatar attaches great importance to developing relations with China and will continue to pursue the one-China policy and support China's grand cause of reunification. Qatar hopes to strengthen political consultations with China, expand cooperation in the areas of economy, trade and investment and enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs.

Li said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have been kept closer and effective cooperation in economy, trade and other areas has brought practical benefits to both peoples. China appreciates Qatar for offering persistent and staunch support on Taiwan and other questions, cherishes bilateral friendship and would like to develop friendly cooperative relations of long-term stability with Qatar.

On the evening of May 23, Li held talks with Qatari First Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani and both sides exchanged views on further developing bilateral cooperation in all areas and pushing for in-depth development of bilateral relations.
