Wen Jiabao Meets with Lal Krishna Advani and Natwar Singh

On the afternoon of April 11, 2005, Premier Wen Jiaobao of the State Council met with President Lal Krishna Advani of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress opposition party, and Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh respectively.

Wen told Advani that China appreciates the Bharatiya Janata Party for its contribution to promoting China-India friendliness as the ruling party. The Communist Party of China (CPC) is willing to continue to develop the friendly cooperation with BJP and hopes that BJP could continue to play an active role in promoting the growth of bilateral ties.

Advani believed that the release of the Political Guiding Principles for Resolving the Boundary Issue is an important step in building political mutual trust. He said that BJP is willing to carry out closer cooperation with CPC and contribute more to enhancing the friendship between the two countries and peoples.

During his meeting with Indian Foreign Minster Natwar Singh, Wen expressed the hope that the related government agencies of both countries including the foreign ministries work together to sincerely implement the common consensus reached by the two sides and turn the good wish of the two peoples for friendly cooperation into a reality. Singh believed that Premier Wen's visit to India was a complete success, demonstrating to the whole world the determination of the two countries to maintain friendliness from generation to generation.
