|Ambassador Zhang Paid Visit to Dublin City University|
On 16th May 2006, Ambassador Zhang Xinsen visited Dublin City University (DCU) at the invitation of the university.
Accompanied by the former Deputy President Prof. Albert Pratt, Ambassador was briefed on the research and innovation programme of DCU, the collaboration between DCU and its Chinese counterparts as well as the general situation of the Chinese students in DCU. Ambassador also toured the campus and visited the National Research Centre, the University Library, the INVEST incubator centre and the Leisure Sports Centre.
Lunch was held in Ambassador's honour by Deputy President Prof. Anne Scott, Vice President for Research Prof. Eugene Kennedy and University Secretary Mr. Martin Conry, both sides explored opportunities for DCU in its future relations with China in all aspects.
Meeting with Prof. Ferdinand von Prondzynski, President of DCU, Ambassador highly appreciated his foresight and efforts in developing relations with China as well as all the assistance DCU provided to the Chinese students. Mr. President warmly welcomed Ambassador to DCU and wished the trip could give His Excellency more ideas about the University. He hoped to see closer contact and cooperation between DCU and the Chinese Embassy in Ireland thus making more contributions to the mutual educational exchange between Ireland and China.
Before leaving DCU, Ambassador paid a visit to the students' dormitory and had cordial talks with Chinese students.
