Qualifications Agreement Signed by Chinese and Irish Government
2006-03-24

On February 23, 2006, on behalf of the respective governments, Minister of Education of China Mr. Zhou Ji and Minister for Education and Science of Ireland Mary Hanafin, T.D. formally signed the agreement for the mutual recognition of higher education qualifications in Beijing.

The agreement provides for the recognition of higher education awards from sub-degree (higher certificate) to doctorate levels.  It will ensure that students and graduates traveling between both countries for the pursuit of further study or employment will have their existing qualifications recognized.

The agreement is of great significance in further promoting the China-Ireland cooperation in educational field as well as in facilitating the bilateral human resource exchange.

China already has similar agreements with Britain, France, Germany, New Zealand and Australia.
